Tralogy 2011 Conference, Paris.
The first of a series of Tralogy conferences, entitled “Translation Careers and Technologies: Convergence Points for the Future,” was held on March 3–4 in Paris.
The main objective of the conference was to present the current state of expertise and information technology utilization in the work of translators. The speakers were mostly representatives of scientific institutions, universities and bodies of the European Union, which participated in the sponsoring of the conference. The topics of the papers focused on the presentation of the results of researches concerning existing technologies and the potential utilization of new ones, as well as on the conditions for participation in technological projects funded by the European Commission.
Due to the limited time devoted to each paper and a wide range of topics, speakers presented the overall results of their researches. Thus, the conference was rather a meeting place than a source of specific information.
Four members of C&M Localization Center took part in the conference. During discussions and backstage talks numerous contacts were made, which will contribute to the development of technologies implemented in our company and facilitate participation in projects financed by the European Union.
