IT translations require expertise both in the field of computer science, as well as in subjects that are related to the specific software. For example, accurate translation of a banking system's user manual requires sound knowledge of computer systems, including enterprise servers, as well as of banking, finance and accounting issues.
An additional difficulty is the need to maintain consistency throughout software interface, online help, user manuals and information materials. These materials often contain screenshots and other images that require advanced DTP skills.
Most IT translations concern software localization but they also include translations of marketing materials and software-related information, which also applies to websites, brochures and commercial offers.
