Term Extraction and Terminology Management Course.
On May 28, C&M’s employees took part in an international course entitled "Term Extraction and Terminology Management” which was organized by Imperial College London.
The main purpose of the course was to familiarize the participants with the use and functionality of three terminology management tools: SDL MultiTerm, Lexterm and Lingo.
Lexterm proved to be a good alternative to the sophisticated SDL MultiTerm due to the fact that it enables easy, quick and effective terminology extraction, as well as editing of both mono- and bilingual corpora. The extracted terminology is saved in a tab-delimited text format and for this reason it can be easily imported to terminology building software, such as Lingo, which is a good and user-friendly CAT tool.
Everyday use of the C&M KeyStone™ system for terminology management and proofreading automation proves the necessity of developing such tools, especially those free of charge.
