The Third Edition of the Translation and Localization Market in Poland.
C&M actively participated in the third edition of the Translation and Localization Market in Poland, which was held on March 27-28, 2010 in Krakow.
The conference focused mainly on CAT tools as well as on the future of the translation market. There were also some presentations related to other aspects of the translator's profession, such as workflow, and linguistic and legal issues.
The most interesting speeches analyzed the possibilities for growth in the Polish translation market in the perspective of the ending world economic crisis, implementation of CAT software, machine translation and management of huge localization projects. The most notable presentation, delivered by Marek Lazinski, D.Sc., discussed the Polish National Corpus project.
During the conference, the differences in the approach towards the job-related issues adopted by translation agencies and freelance translators manifested themselves clearly. The translators had the opportunity to learn about the latest technologies, while the representatives of the translator agencies were able to see the other side of the agency-freelancer relationship.
