Content on the Multilingual Web workshops. The second of the fourth planned series of workshops entitled Content on the Multilingual Web, being part of a project co-funded by the European Commission, was held on April 4-5 in Pisa. The main objective of the workshop was to discuss the standards and good practices related both to the translation and to the creation of multilingual content on the World Wide Web. 33 papers on a wide range of topics - from the HTML language standard, to issues related to translation and localization, to controversial attempts at employing the MT technology for such purposes as, for instance, machine translation of poetry - were presented. All presentations were highly relevant and meaningful. Many of them spurred fiery discussions, the transcription of which is available on the project webpage. A representative of C&M who attended the workshop has made numerous business contacts that will facilitate the completion of the company’s own projects co-funded by the European Commission.
