C&M Localization Center relies first of all on the high quality of its services. The achievement of this goal requires continuous development, improvement and creation of new IT tools that are used to support the translation process.
Owing to their reliability and the capability of perfectly adapting to the customer’s needs, the proprietary tools, such as KeyStone™, Translation Portal™, or Translation Project Manager™, have become indispensable in our daily routine. In our work, we often come across various problems, most of which are related to effective use of the CAT tools functions or a large number of source formats that C&M can handle owing to sophisticated pre- and post-processing procedures. Given the present level of advancement and variety of information technologies, even the most experienced translators are bound to face challenges such as those related to the use of all advantages of the IT tools.

C&M has been making effort to solve any and all issues that affect the quality of translation. The methods used to deal with the difficult situations are thoroughly described and posted on the Knowledge Base which has been developed specifically to this end. The tool is designed for both the translators and our staff who no longer need to make effort trying to find solutions on their own, which saves them loads of precious time. The base contains tips and tricks, textbook knowledge as well as procedures showed on screenshots. With this tool, the translators have an opportunity to find out how to make the most effective use of applications such as Xbench, SDL Trados, Star Transit, Adobe software and many more that are employed on a regular basis. The articles added to the base include those in which more general topics are discussed, such as linguistics, topics related to translation, the use of Internet, and so on. Another advantage of this tool is that the articles can be created in collaboration with external translators. The translators cooperating with C&M have been given access to the application so that they can write their own articles which, once approved by our employees, will be added to the base.
The Knowledge Base is first of all the result of the experiences gathered in the course of works on a large number of localization projects, and a valuable collection of readily-available information that could shorten the job completion time and which have a significant effect on the final quality of translation.
